2NCMI/3US Battery B/Columbia Flying Artillery

The Second North Carolina Mounted Infantry (2NCMI) represents the original regiment that was formed and saw action in western North Carolina, eastern Tennessee, southern Virginia and southern Kentucky. While western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee didn't see the major battles people associate with the war, there were many smaller actions and skirmishes that were just as deadly, although on a smaller scale. Families were impacted, men, women and children were lost due to the conflicts, and the way of life in our mountains was changed forever. We strive to educate the public about the past through living histories, reenactment of battles, school and organization lectures and appearances at special events.

Our Regiment is home to the 2NCMI, Co A, dismounted, and Company B, mounted, in addition to the 3rd US Light Artillery, Battery B, and the Columbia Flying Artillery. Between the three units, we can field a mountain howitzer, an ordinance rifle, mounted troops, dismounted troops, and Marine skirmishers.

Captain Smith is the point of contact for the 2NCMI, Co A and B. If you need more information, please contact Captain Smith.

Lt. Pennington is the point of contact for the 3rd US. If you need more information, please contact Lt. Pennington.

Major Bohland is the point of contact for the Columbia Flying Artillery and the CS Marine Detachment. If you need more information, please contact Major Bohland.

The 2NCMI is registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, governed by Board of Directors and our staff members are all volunteers. If we can be of service or for more information, please contact Captain Smith.

Best regards,

Captain Smith
